Who Am I
My name is Colin Haycock, I live in Berkshire and I've been messing about with cars most of my life. I work in the IT industry as Managed Services Consultant in the Unified Communication industry.
I have 3 grown up children and a golden labrador Honey. I live with my partner Frances.
I've wanted to build a kit car since I was a teenage but never been in a position to actually do it until now.
This is a blog to document the process of this from finding the donor, the strip down, kit ordering, build up and through the test process.

The Kit
I've wanted to build a kit car since I saw the Caterham 7 kit featured in a car magazine back in the 1980's. That was a long time ago and things have moved on a lot but that dream hasn't ever gone away.
Now I am about to start it, the kit I've have selected is the ANC Replicar. This kit is based around the look of an Aston Martin DBR1. It is built on a donor Mazda MX-5 which is stripped down to the basic running gear.
The website of the ANC Replicar is http://www.ancsportscars.co.uk/
I picked this kit for a number of reasons.
1. The donor car is relatively cheap and available
2. The kit is good quality and value for money
3. The build process is straight forward
4. The end product will be a car that will have classic 50's race car looks and be something I could not own if I tried to buy an original.
Before selecting this kit I researched the build, looked at a few build diaries and joined the Facebook group. I also spoke to a couple of owners about their experience of building it and this was very reassuring.
